Was today the day the world almost ended?
Checking
NO
No — October 27's history is grim but not apocalyptic; nothing nearly ended the world today.
Why
- 1962: Cuban Missile Crisis was at its tensest — but that was Oct 27
- 2019: al-Baghdadi died in a US raid; 2018: Pittsburgh synagogue shooting
- World still here: 1 day and counting
